Palmerston Station
The following photographs of models are based on historic Palmerston, Ontario, as it was in 1949-1950. When completed I'll be able to replicate all of the daily train movements through Palmerston. The morning shift alone will have at least 5 freight trains and 12 passenger trains arriving or departing. All out of a seven track yard!
The coaling dock is scratch built from wood, using photos and an insurance document for basic dimensions. The roundhouse is scratch built in styrene. I felt that for that kind of a structure styrene was a better choice given the potential for high levels of humidity in the basement. The freight shed is built from wood following standard practices but is not actually correct for Palmerston. That shed will be going on the other side of the basement when I build the town of Harriston.
For more information about Palmerston and other CN sub-divisions please visit Ian Wilson's website. As I progress more photos will be added.
